I have been looking through the Brighton Uni website at all of the work from last years graduates. There is some really inspiring work and this designer Olga Morawski has designed an absolutely stunning collection. The colours and prints are so bold and modern, they have a really refreshing and exciting feel to them. I love the technique that she has used for applying the colours to the fabric.
Here is a bit more about her collection:
Latent Life of the Deep
My interests lie in the development of a concept into an outcome that may be coherently read by those who view it. In addition to a keen awareness of visual presentation and curation, other passions include analytical and critical writing, as well as practical application of knowledge in photography, fashion and textiles. Enjoyment of travel and languages are other particular favourites.

Weston Scarf be mine.
I was watching 'Britain's next big thing' the other day and saw this one guy who digitally scans segments of organic minerals. The images that he gets from these scans, he prints onto beautiful silk to create amazing scarves. They are so incredible because the Man who created them (Richard Weston) doesn't alter the colours at all so they are completely honest and organic. The idea is so simple but the finished articles are just stunning, another thing to put in my 'if i had a disposable income' box. If only.

If Lost Please Return to....
These are the images which I ended up with after I sent a disposable camera to freelance photographer Rachel Dunning. I asked her to try to create a sort of visual diary through imagery. I stole the amazing idea from online magazine 'Tourist Magazine' which I love. It is such a lovely, romantic, creative idea and its so simple which is why I thought it would work perfectly within my magazine.
I am really pleased with the results and love the random nature and odd story which the photographs seem to tell.
Here are some of my favourite images.....

It's a fake event.
I have thought about the shops branding in terms of if there was an event happening, how we would promote it and what kind of thing we would want to have. So, for my first event, I have chosen a kind of gallery event held in the boutique. It would be about promoting new designers from around Brighton as well as promoting the current stock in store. For this particular event, I have chosen to promote 2 new textiles designers who I find really interesting and inspiring, Dawn Ellams and Olga Morawski.
I have designed the flyers, invitations and poster and this is what I ended up with.....

branding shmanding
Logos are quite important, I have put it off for ages because I find it all rather daunting. However, with the help of my friend and graphic designer Amy, we have finally chosen a colour palette and branding idea to roll with.
Since choosing a final image, we have been trying to develop the idea of the logo and branding and so have started to think about different ways that the logo can be displayed in order to help the boutique gain a recognisable and familiar graphic. I love the simplicity and handmade feel that the logo has and so we started to have a little play around with how these logos and other typography can be displayed....

Ursula Roxy.
I was recently told about a photographer who works around the West Midlands area. As i am at uni in Birmingham and sometimes carrying out styling photo shoots, i am always looking for possible collaborations. I recently joined the networking website Model Mahem as a way of meeting new models and photographers so that i can learn as much as possible about styling and working with other creative people. Anyways, yer, i am doing a styling shoot next week and was told to look at Ursula's work. She has some really beautiful imagery which still portrays elements of fun and romance. I love the honesty and the soft colour tones which she uses in her work.
lovely.

Let's Fall in Love Again
Dawn Ellams graduated from Brighton University last year having completed an MDES. She created a really beautiful and feminine collection of printed textiles:
‘Let’s Fall In Love Again’ poses the question; in a world obsessed with self-image and change have we all become chameleons who’s outer image changes with each new fashion trend?
The final designs have been developed to provoke a positive emotional response, for the wearer to see their clothing simply as beautiful items they want to treasure forever, wear over and over again eventually being passed onto their daughters, daughter.
