Everyone's talking about.....PETER PILOTTO!

In my very humble and unbiased but slightly biased opinion...I really believe that Peter Pilotto is one of those designers to watch. Having been interning for this amazing company since early January, I have completed the transaction from a fan of the label to an employee, the studio is one of the best and happiest places that I have worked in so far! The people are amazing and the clothes are really inspiring and if I could, I would wear their clothes all day everyday. Peter and Christopher the main designers are really lovely characters and the whole environment is really creative and infectiously exciting!
We are currently working upto London Fashion Week and I am loving everyday. The cut and prints used in the garments are beautifully thought about and incredibly flattering. The spring/summer looks are so current and on trend with the whole sporty fashion thing which seems to be coming through at the moment.

Oh Spike....you STUD.

I am getting quite into the whole punky, tartan, DM, stud/spike thing at the moment....not sure whether it's a rebellious thing like the original punks but still it's something new to investigate so it's fun for me! I got some amazing double ended......spike earrings from topshop the other day which I love, and they were a bargain, and I got to pay for them with a christmas topshop voucher so they were practically FREE!!!

Here are some of the really amazing spiked or studded things that I couldn't help but fall in love with recently...some of them affordable....some of them not so much!
Oh well.

If I could choose anyone to play me in a film.....it'd be Drew Barrymore, bloody dull film though.

She is amazing. Every girl has a style crush or something to that effect and she is mine. A guilty pleasure....without the guilt.

I am just going to let these pictures speak for themselves. Despite what I think is the reasoning behind this girl crush I think it's just that she can pull off the 'Grossie Josie' taunt and...well....I never could!

Aztec me beautiful...

At the moment, i've been seeing aztec around and about and the more I see, the more I want! I think it's gonna get pretty big this spring/summer as the colours are eveywhere and the whole pastel thing looks as if it's gonna get/stay pretty big this year. To be honest, it could be worse, at least us paler folk can pull it off too without feeling too ashamed of our pastey white skin! Oh who cares, there's not much we can do about it anyway!! Rock on the factor 50 ladies....although we shouldn't have to worry for a few months yet!

Kings Mews? More like Kings Muse.

Sooo, I havn't really blogged very much about music but this is a band that I went to go and see in Brighton and it kind of seems that nobody can move to Brighton without getting slightly more involved in the music scene, so it would seem that I have become quite the cliche!

This band is really awesome though, they have a real twist of having a main vocalist who has an amazing voice and is married with a really soulful sound with the help of his fantastic band.

Here are some images of them in action and if you want to give them a listen (which I very much recommend) then go to their website... www.kingsmewsband.co.uk

Fight fire with fire

During these cold cold nights I have been finding myself without lighters as my friends clearly have been cashing in on my drunken forgetfulness so I have been having to collect matches from various establishments which I have been visiting over the past few weeks. This has led to a slight obsession with collecting matchboxes, I think they are becoming the new sources of fire anyway as despite being slightly less dependable than the classic lighter, they represent a really sentimental and old school style to me. I love the names and creativity that  matchboxes represent.....

Teatum Jones Yes Please

This is an amazing design duo that I heard about from a friend. Their work is beautiful, elegant and so effortless. I would wear any of their stuff in a heartbeat.....I'll leave you with their own biography and an amazing array of their designs...

Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones are the
Designers behind the label Teatum Jones.

Having trained in womenswear at Ravensbourne College of Design and Central Saint Martin’s respectively, they previously worked for Luella Bartley, Warren Noronha and John Richmond.

Teatum and Jones met whilst working together on menswear and they became enamoured with one another’s sense of escapism.

Besotted with the power of a story and drawn to both romance and tragedy the duo find themselves compelled to seek out beauty and refinement in what is ordinarily considered sinister or dark.

The Designers are conceptual in their approach to design whilst remaining loyal to an ethos of authenticity, desirability and quality. Fascinated by human behaviour and exchanges, Teatum and Jones’ signature is within their anthropological approach to design and fashion.

The Teatum Jones woman has a refined and contemporary take on elegance. She is inadvertently chic yet boldly nonchalant. She is drawn to the label because it allows her to achieve the perfect balance between masculine and feminine. Embodying the effortlessness and ease of the pieces, the Teatum Jones woman embraces the conceptual whilst radiating a contemporary elegance.

Having made the decision to launch their own label, Teatum and Jones spent several years researching and developing their ideas for what they envisioned as a contemporarily relevant womenswear brand. After being chosen as one of the 10 finalists for the Fashion Fringe competition in 2009, they launched their debut womenswear collection for SS11 in London, September 2010. They are extremely proud to be launching their third collection for SS12 on schedule in London fashion week.
