YAGO HORTAL....I wanna lick your art

The other day I came across some work by artist Yago Hortal and I love it. The colours and texture of the images are really very beautiful, they have a very psychedelic element to them which is both fun and mesmerising.  I saw these pieces in As You Are Magazine (another amazing publication).....

Small Snipet from AYA Mag:

'“A painting that talks about painting, and in consequence, about its own language autonomy, is a whirlpool that extends to infinity, a pictorial-rational loop.” – Hortal
These super fun and trippy paintings from Berlin based Yago Hortal attack colour and movement in one go. Gradients slide into each other as lines melt and purples dance with oranges and blues. It’s a bit of an assault on the senses conjuring up 90s acid-wash and Keanu Reeves in ‘Point Break’. Having never heard of the phrase ‘less means more’ (and face it that’s only ever said to kids going glitter-happy on home made Birthday cards) Hortal creates a bright, new world. It’s a fun-fare existence which beckons you to climb aboard and wriggle around on a canvas of paint. Like a fun Jackson Pollock.'
